Tape "Paintings"
What began as an inquisitive, experimental idea has ended up being a mainstream endeavor for me. Although I consider myself primarily a painter, these tape compositions help me immensely in honing compositional skills, color arrangement, and shape displacement throughout a piece. I enjoy them because many of the decisions I must make in painting have been made for me through the medium of tape. For instance, I have a very limited color pallet, being forced to use colors available to me. Also, the "tape strokes" are limited to the size of tape available to me. These decisions being made for me free me to focus on composition and presentation.
