Sometimes as an artist I just want to make work that makes me laugh. This is one of those pieces. While making this series I had comics in the back of my mind. I remember my parents buying the Sunday paper every week when I was young and I would always dig the comics out and leave the remnants of grown-up coupons and news articles for the bored and lonely. I loved the narratives that comics create and how they naturally cause the viewer to create their own transitional stories between segments. I always felt that so much was happening between frames that was never fleshed out. This piece represents what can be found between the frames. It happens in seconds and has a visual punch line that in the end makes me chuckle. (William Singer is a graduate school counterpart that I chose as a subject because of his iconic glasses.)
